Analyzing Website Traffic

Analyzing your web traffic statistics can be an invaluable tool for a number of different reasons. But before you can make full use of this tool, you need to understand how to interpret the data.

Most web hosting companies will provide you with basic web traffic information that you then have to interpret and make pertinent use of. However, the data you receive from your host company can be overwhelming if you don't understand how to apply it to your particular business and website. Let's start by examining the most basic data - the
average visitors to your site on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

These figures are the most accurate measure of your website's activity. It would appear on the surface that the more traffic you see recorded, the better you can assume your website is doing, but this is an inaccurate
perception. You must also look at the behavior of your visitors once they come to your website to accurately gauge the effectiveness of your site.

There is often a great misconception about what is commonly known as "hits" and what is really effective, quality traffic to your site. Hits simply means the number of information requests received by the server. If you think about the fact that a hit can simply equate to the number of graphics per page, you will get an idea of how overblown the concept of hits can be. For example, if your homepage has 15 graphics on it, the server records this as 15 hits, when in reality we are talking about a single visitor checking out a single page on your site. As you can see, hits are not useful in analyzing your website traffic.

The more visitors that come to your website, the more accurate your interpretation will become. The greater the traffic is to your website, the more precise your analysis will be of overall trends in visitor behavior. The smaller the number of visitors, the more a few anomalous visitors
can distort the analysis.

The aim is to use the web traffic statistics to figure out how well or how poorly your site is working for your visitors. One way to determine this is to find out how long on average your visitors spend on your site. If the time
spent is relatively brief, it usually indicates an underlying problem. Then the challenge is to figure out what that problem is.

It could be that your keywords are directing the wrong type of visitors to your website, or that your graphics are confusing or intimidating, causing the visitor to exit rapidly. Use the knowledge of how much time visitors are
spending on your site to pinpoint specific problems, and after you fix those problems, continue to use time spent as a gauge of how effective your fix has been.

Additionally, web traffic stats can help you determine effective and ineffective areas of your website. If you have a page that you believe is important, but visitors are exiting it rapidly, that page needs attention. You could, for example, consider improving the link to this page by making the link more noticeable and enticing, or you could improve the look of the page or the ease that your visitors can access the necessary information on that page.

If, on the other hand, you notice that visitors are spending a lot of time on pages that you think are less important, you might consider moving some of your sales copy and marketing focus to that particular page.

As you can see, these statistics will reveal vital information about the effectiveness of individual pages, and visitor habits and motivation. This is essential information to any successful Internet marketing campaign.

Your website undoubtedly has exit pages, such as a final order or contact form. This is a page you can expect your visitor to exit rapidly. However, not every visitor to your site is going to find exactly what he or she is looking
for, so statistics may show you a number of different exit pages. This is normal unless you notice a exit trend on a particular page that is not intended as an exit page. In the case that a significant percentage of visitors are exiting your website on a page not designed for that
purpose, you must closely examine that particular page to discern what the problem is. Once you pinpoint potential weaknesses on that page, minor modifications in content or graphic may have a significant impact on the keeping visitors moving through your site instead of exiting at the
wrong page.

After you have analyzed your visitor statistics, it's time to turn to your keywords and phrases. Notice if particular keywords are directing a specific type of visitor to your site. The more targeted the visitor - meaning that they find what they are looking for on your site, and even better, fill out your contact form or make a purchase - the more valuable that keyword is.

However, if you find a large number of visitors are being directed - or should I say misdirected - to your site by a particular keyword or phrase, that keyword demands adjustment. Keywords are vital to bringing quality visitors to your site who are ready to do business with you. Close analysis of the keywords your visitors are using to find your site will give you a vital understanding of your visitor's needs and motivations.

Finally, if you notice that users are finding your website by typing in your company name, break open the champagne! It means you have achieved a significant level of brand recognition, and this is a sure sign of burgeoning success.

Almost anyone can create a website these days, but only a select few will be able to maintain enough traffic for their site to be considered successful. Maintaining and increasing traffic to your website may not be a priority if you only have your website for personal purposes. If you run your business through your website however, increasing traffic can mean a world of difference. Chances are if you are on a tight budget, advertising is not a great option for you. There are ways to advertise your website without paying any fees. One great way to get your website address out there is through a blog. There are several ways to use a blog to increase website traffic. Take a look below to get a few ideas that will help you get started.

Before you begin, you will need to decide whether you want to create your own blog, or utilize the blogs of others for your task. There are advantages to both methods. Creating your own blog can be a lot of fun, but it also takes a little time. There are several great websites that offer free blogs to those who choose to create their own. The free websites often have extremely simple steps to use that will help you get your blog rolling right away, allowing even those with limited computer skills to create a blog in less than an hour. You may want to read on to see which methods of blog use you want to try before determining whether you want your own blog or not.

One of the best ways to increase traffic to your website using a blog is by using search terms. This can be done in several ways; however you probably will want to create your own blog for these. To utilize search terms, you need to post them on your blog or throughout articles on your blog. For example, if your website is about fishing and you want to target fishermen, then you can post articles containing fishing terms on your blog. You can even simply post lists of fishing terms on your blog as well. When fishermen get online and do searches for these terms, chances are they will be led to a link to your blog. At that point, you will need to also post many links to your fishing website. This will possibly draw the fishermen in and get them to click on the link to your website. When using the search engine approach, you will need to find software that allows you to see exactly which search engines are most popular. Then you can cater your search engine lists and articles to fit the most popular words. Blogs are perfect for search engine terms and articles because you can literally post anything you want on a blog without it being inappropriate. Even professional websites use this approach and it has been found to be one of the most effective out there. Not to mention, it is free for you to utilize.

Another way to use a blog to increase traffic to your website is simply by posting. This can be done on other blogs that you read as well. In the comments area, you can post a response to blogs you read that includes your website link. This should only be done when you are writing a legitimate comment however. Otherwise, if you simply use the comment line for your personal ad space, you will deter many people from clicking on your link due to it being considered rude. Just read as many blogs a day as you can, make legitimate comments, and include your website link in your signature. This is a fast way to get an increase in traffic.

No matter if you want to use your own blog or someone else

They spend the most money and time trying to attract first-time visitors to their sites in hopes of generating new sales and subscribers.

But, believe it or not, it

How to explode traffic to your website for free

You know, almost everybody nowadays owns a website. But what good is it when NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY, knows about it?. You could tell your friends and familybout it and surely they way pay it a visit, but that will basically be all.

What you want is traffic, thousands of hits per day. Maybe you have some affiliate links on your site and hope to make a few bucks off it. Or maybe you got a blog and want loads of people to join in your discussion.

One option is to pay an advertising company a few hundred dollars to do the job, or you can join Adwords from Google Inc to help you out, but this all cost money. What I am about to reveal to you, will cost you absolutely nothing at all. It will only cost you your time and effort.

Ask yourself the following question. DO I REALLY, REALLY WANT TRAFFIC?. If your answer is YES my friend, you need to build backlinks to your website or blog. And not just backlinks. ONEWAY BACKLINKS. The search-engines will love you for it.

Why is it so important to have backlinks?

You see, when the search engine spiders crawl these websites, they will most definately find your link and crawl your site. So every website on which the search engine spider finds your link, it will basically be forced to crawl your site as the link on those sites points the spiders in your direction. Those backlinks are actually votes for your site from the other sites and in no time you will see that are starting to get more traffic to your site.

The higher the pagerank of a site, the better it will be for your website. Some people reason that you should not submit your site to websites with a low or zero pagerank. That's kinda funny, cause did'nt we all start at pagerank zero? The site with your backlink on it might be PR 0 today, but what about next week, next month, or next year? Then you'll feel sorry for yourself, because then they might not even accept links anymore, cause their PR0 went up to PR7!!

So what can you do to get these free backlinks? You just have to write one article about any topic you are good at. Then join as much as possible Article Directories and submit your article there. Rlly, it's free to join them. There's literally thousands of these directories on the net. Some will accept your article, while others might decline it. But the bottom line is, those who accept it, is giving you valuable backlinks to your website, which automatically creates free traffic.

My friend, act now ! It's never too late. Just google around for free submission directories. You will find thousands of them.

One more thing. You are free to use this article on your website provided that it stays unaltered and the links in the resourcebox is live, search-engine friendly links.

DO NOT STEAL. IT IS NOT WORTH IT.

How to create a high traffic website

Ok, so your site is now live and you still haven't seen any traffic whatsoever to your website. Although getting your site in the search engines can be frustrating it is worth it. All you need is time, patience, and a little bit of preparation. Lets start of by talking about the meta tags. Although most major search engines don't look at the meta tags for keywords they magnify the title and description tags and base their entire categorization off of them. You will want to make certain that every page has both the title and description tags filled in and be sure to use you major keyword phrases in both the title and description. Every page in your website should have it's own unique title and descriptions.

When designing a site the first thing to always remember is to create the site for the user not for search engines, but as a disclaimer also be aware of proper search engine practices.

1. Content is king:
When developing a site keep in mind that search engines crawl sites for content. So your site has better chances of gaining
more attention with mountains of original content.

2. Develop Strategic Relationships And Reciprocal Links:
Search engines rank a site by many methods but one of the most important pieces of criteria for any site is the number of websites that point back to it aka backlinks. Do you know of sites that are similar to yours but not a competitor? If so, you should contact the webmaster and see if they would be interested in exchanging links with you. Also you can join many free text link exchanges aka reciprocal links. Both of these methods will enhance your backlinks expediential, and since this is single handedly the most important part of receiving traffic you will want to take your time and do it correctly. Yet another way of achieving backlinks is through forums, and blogs. Join Email Discussion Groups, Forums, Ezines, And News Groups while placing your websites link in your signature can create a lot of attention and will also get spidered by the search engines. Although search engines are the ultimate goal with your back-linking you will be pleased to see traffic start rolling in from others sites that you have left links on.
It is believed by many that the major search engines use a tactic to prevent search spam called "sandboxing" this in short means a waiting period before they will index your site on their search engine. Although this is very controversial it is also one of the reasons why you need to find sites that are out of the "sandbox" who will link to you. Typically the sandboxing will last from 3 to 6 months.

4. Watch and wait, only make one change at a time:
Measure the Progress of your site and how much traffic is coming in, and whenever you make any changes be sure to make them one at a time. If you make to many changes at once you could be undoing all your hard work and efforts and find your website slipping in the engines. The key to this step is definitely patience.

5. Add Fresh Content Often:
It may not appear that the search engines are watching your site but they probably are. Some of the things they look for in a site as time goes on is the activity level of your site. If you developed a site 1 year ago and have not made a single update or even added a new page to the site it will start to fall in the search engine as other sites take your place. In reverse if you continually add new pages to your site this can help your site rise in rank replacing the stale sites. This doesn't mean that you need to add a new page every day but try this even once a month and you will be surprised at the results.

6. Telling the media that you have a site:
Press Releases can bring in very targeted interest to your site as well as creating backlinks for you throughout high traffic sites. When you are writing a Press Release do not spam them with a cheap article loaded with links, it will only get thrown out. The best way to write a press release is to find something interesting in your business that has never been addressed by other companies. Some examples topics would be: do you have an interesting or dangerous job, does your website offer something strange or unusual, have you uncovered a way to make life more time efficient, easier, or do you have a product or service that will save others money. If you focus your Press Release on these criteria and only make a short reference to your site with only one or two links max you will see other news sites pick up your story and you may even gain enough momentum and popularity that television, radio, and newspapers want to interview you.

Anyone who owns a website knows the importance of website traffic. You may have a terrific idea for a website with an excellent product or service, superb design, content and functionality but if you do not use the right tactics, your site may not attract the all important highly targeted website traffic. Getting a lot of traffic into a site has very little to do with the site itself but with how the webmaster or site owner advertises it. With hundreds of competing sites, you must employ the most effective internet marketing techniques that will truly deliver results.

There are different internet marketing techniques that you can use. All these techniques and methods aim at increasing your website traffic. You must find a way for web surfers to find your site. To do this, you must put yourself in the shoes of your prospective visitors and future clients and see the internet through their eyes. Where do they usually go whenever they are looking up something on the web? The answer is the search engine; in fact, the two most popular websites on the web today are both search engines and portals. Thus, you should focus your internet marketing efforts on the search engine.

People will usually search for something using a search engine and click on the top results that these engines give. Therefore, you must use the right internet marketing techniques to get a high search engine ranking. To gain a high ranking in search results, you can use several internet marketing techniques. Search engine optimization is a set of methods that are aimed at improving the visibility of your site in search engine results. Since a search engine indexes sites by looking at its keyword density, your site's content must have favorable keyword density that is search engine friendly. Content is one of the most important internet marketing technique itself. If you have excellent content that is geared towards achieving a high search engine ranking as well as provide information then you can expect a high search engine ranking. However, this is not as easy as it sounds. Countless other sites may be using the same internet marketing technique as you do. Thus, you must continuously find new ways of attracting more website traffic.

Aside from the traditional marketing techniques such as print ads, billboards, brochures, testimonials, flyers etc. you must use other more effective internet marketing techniques to gain more website traffic. One of the most popular internet marketing technique today is submitting articles. Writing and submitting articles is an extremely powerful method for promoting your websites, products, and services.

By writing short articles on the topic related to your website, you can offer these articles for other website owners or newsletter publishers to use by submitting them to an article directory.

These directories get spidered by the search engines on a regular basis because of the high value of the content they provide. If you have not yet been picked up by the search engines this is the easiest way to get them to find you. You also get exposure to those who look for articles in the directories for use on their sites.

When they make use of your articles on their websites or in their newsletters, you will get the credit as the author along with a link to your website. Not only will you gain visitors, but you will benefit from the hyperlinks that are created.

This internet marketing technique is now being used by thousands of site owners. It is also gaining popularity because of its relatively high success rate in attracting high website traffic.

Top 5 Free Ways To Increase Your Website Traffic Instantly

Before you spend hundreds of dollars on website advertising, you should consider cost effective ways to promote your site for free. Some people think that you can just submit your site to the search engines and then sit back and watch the sales come in, but this is one of many Internet marketing myths.

I used to think that I could just submit my site to hundreds of search engines and wake up in the morning with hundreds of sales. After a couple of months of aggravation and no money coming in I realized that there must be a more effective way to do this. I came to the conclusion that it was going to take a little bit more effort to see the results I wanted.

I have since learned the tested and proven methods that have worked time and time again for Internet marketers. I am going to tell you about the top 5 ways that are 100% free to increase your website traffic, and if you spend time on them and do it religiously you will find that they work consistently

1. Article Writing

These are the two major benefits of writing an article related to your website content and submitting it to free article directories:

* The people who read your article will most likely click the link in your resource box and this will send you targeted visitors to your website. If you write a informative article, people will recognize you as an expert and will want to find out more information about you and your business

* Every person who publishes your article must also include the resource box with your website link in it. The more articles you have published, the more backlinks you will have to your website. This will help increase your search engine ranking and page rank over time.

2. Posting To Forums

There are many forums on the Internet on every topic you can think of.

Many forums will allow you to attach a signature to your post. Many times this signature can include a link back to your website or a affiliate linkYou should pick a few forums to visit regularly on topics related to your website and answer questions and make informative posts. After awhile you will build a good reputation with the other members and they will trust you, and you will get free exposure to your website. Some posts receive thousands of visitors. Posting to forums can also be indexed by the search engines.

Be sure to make a useful contribution to the forum and don't just spam.

3. Reciprocal Linking

There are two main benefits to reciprocal linking:

* The more links you exchange with other websites, the more of a chance the person will click on your link leading to your website.

* More links to your site will increase your page rank and it will be perceived as more important by the search engines. There are some things to avoid when exchanging links with other websites.

* You should link to sites that will be of interest to your visitors. And also link to sites related to your site content.

* You should not link to sites that have hundreds of links on one page or a very un-organized directory, this can hurt you in the search engines. Only link to sites that have a clearly labeled link page and not hidden where no one can see or click.

* Do not post to FFA link farms. This is a waste of time and will not get you any traffic. It also might get you banned from search engines.

* Keep track of all your link exchanges with software or a contact sheet. Also make sure that your link partners have not removed your link from there website.

4. Email Signatures

This is the oldest and simplest way to get traffic to your website

Millions of us send e-mail everyday, but most of us just sign our name or nothing at all at the end of a message.

Try including your name with a URL, tag line or slogan. Keep it short and to the point and avoid shouting at someone or hype. You will be amazed at how many visitors this will bring you. People will click your link out of curiosity and send traffic to your site.

5. Traffic Exchanges

This is the last and easiest way to generate free traffic to your website. You can surf for free credits or build a downline and receive free credits for the sites that they surf.

The only bad thing about this is the visitors will not be as targeted as the other four methods. Most people surf traffic exchanges for one reason only and that is to surf as many pages as possible in the shortest amount of time to gain credits for there website.

So how do you grab the attention of someone who is only looking at your website for 30 seconds?

* Spend some time surfing and learn what type of market it is. You are going to want to advertise a site that is going to be of interest to the people on the exchange.

* Use a lead capture page instead of your sales page. If people are only looking at your site for 30 seconds they are more likely to request more info then sign up for a program on your sales page.

Do these five free methods regularly and you should be on your way to free targeted traffic to your website which will increase with time.

Can I Increase Traffic To My Website With RSS?

If you have a website and you are currently selling a product on the Internet, you need to know that rss can increase traffic to your website dramatically.

Since there are million of websites on the Internet today, and you have a lot of competitors, you need to use every technology available to get higher search engine rankings.

Surfers behavior has evolved other the years, and today, email marketing is not the sole holy gray of your Internet business.

He has no fear of being subject to spam, and therefore, the visitor is happy to add your site to his reader. He thinks that he is in control and he can choose to click and visit your website when he wants.

People are usually in hurry and don't want to waste their time, and prefer scanning instead of reading.

Furthermore, surfers want up to date information, and with the thousands of websites in any given subject, it is really hard for a busy man (or women) to find what he is searching for.

RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication (or Rich Site Summary). RSS will help you to increase traffic to your website because...

You will get better search engine position.

I use an blog with RSS feed enabled to get my sites in the top ten rankings in Google, MSN and Yahoo.

Tip: use wordpress for even better rankings (specially in Google). I don't really know why, but Google love wordpress more than other blogging platforms like type pad and bloggers itself!

You need to use a blog for this technique to be even more effective. It is common to get first position in the search engines for low competition keywords just because you switched to a blog, or you added RSS to your website.

Another reason to use RSS to increase website traffic is that surfers are fed up with "useless" e-zines.

Today, every person who spend more than one year surfing the Internet knows that most of the email newsletters are in fact... a big sales pitch.

For this reason, they don't give you their email easily.

Three Reasons Why A Good Looking Website Will Increase Traffic

If you really want to increase traffic on your website, you may want to step back and take a look at the site from a visitor

How to Get All the Website Traffic You Want with No Effort at all

In order to have a successful site you need of course a lot of website traffic. But in many cases, even if you work really hard and you create a professional web page you still do not get too many visitors and in conclusion the profit that you deserve.

First, let us review the most poplar methods of directing traffic to a certain website.

-link exchanging - cheap method but many say that overall it drives people away from your site instead of to it. This is because adding a large number of links to your pages makes them look unprofessional and may drive visitors away. Adding only a small number of links does not have any noticeable effect. Also making link exchanges is not always so easy because you have to convince webmasters to trade links with you. I can tell you from my experience that if you have a new site this thing could get really difficult because almost no one will want to exchange links with you.

-free ezine ads - another cheap method but it rarely does anything because there are thousands of ads out there that try to attract attention and yours will just blend in with the others.

-search engine submissions - this may be the most effective method but it requires a lot of work and time. To rank successfully in the major search engines takes a lot of time development and quite often money. It only works well if you get a high position in the search engines, which is very difficult to do, and you can loose that position in a few weeks.

-Buying one way links to increase your link popularity and your search engine rankings could be a method but having top positions in the major search engines is not so easy. Every one knows that search engine website traffic is the best but to get it you must have thousands of good quality links which can get really expensive. A PR5 one way link can cost 30USD+ a month.

The solution is easier than you may think.. you can buy traffic! For a small amount of money you can purchase all the website traffic that you need and boost you business profits. Without people visiting your pages you can not promote and sell your products, so if you want to increase your profits you have to get as much website traffic as you can. Therefore, the simplest, easiest solution is to buy traffic. It is not cheap, proven and with targeted traffic has a good conversion rate.

Now, a new innovative method has been developed - the redirected visitors technology. This tehnique brings, just as its name suggests, redirected visitors to your site. It works perfectly and it is guaranteed to bring a lot of website traffic to you!

People who are working with this technology purchase all the abandoned / expired domain names that had a website with good traffic on them. Those abandoned websites are listed in the search engines and they are marketed, therefore they used to be visited by a lot of people. When you enter this kind of program, your website will be scanned, and those abandoned websites will be redirected to yours. When someone searches for something in a search engine and clicks on the link that used to point to the abandoned pages, it will lead them to you instead! Unlike popups this method is not annoying for users, because what they find has the same subject as what they searched for, so they will most likely not even notice the redirection.

This way you will get all the targeted website traffic you need. Instead of working really hard you can simply buy that traffic sit back and watch the sales pour in. Furthermore, this tehnique is not a spamming tehnique and it brings real traffic to you!

Choose A Domain Name That Floods Traffic To Your Website

Choosing a domain name is a very critical part of your website marketing strategy.

By choosing a domain name that targets the specific keywords for your website you'll flood your website with laser targeted traffic by enhancing click through response.

Pick a domain name that gives your prospects what they most desperately desire. By including the keywords in your domain name that are your customers desires, including them in your marketing messages and your website content you can't help but flood traffic to your website!

Wondering what your customer's desires are? If so, you'll need to determine what your really selling. Let's look at an example product here: home security alarm system.

Keep in mind few people know, nor do they care what the heck the product looks like or the features of the product such as size, color, weight, speed, or availability. The only thing they have an interest in is the "results" your product will achieve for them. It all boils down to what's-in-it-for-me?

Why would a prospect purchase a home alarm system? What's-in-it-for-them? If you think for just a moment you'll come up with the right answer.

Yes, it's to protect their jewelry or valuables while they are at work or when the house is empty.

You must stop thinking of yourself or the features of your product to determine what your customer's deepest desires are. By turning your product or service features into "benefits" or "results" you'll be able to hit their hot buttons and flood traffic to your website in the process.

The easiest way to turn features into benefits is to list all the features of your product or service on a piece of paper first. (a feature is a characteristic of a thing: size, color, weight, speed, availability) Then one by one turn each feature into a benefit for your customer. What's-in-it-for-me-- save money? youthfulness? friends? security? money? power? luxury? prestige? thinner body? obedient pet?

The traffic driving potential of keyword targeted domain names is awesome, provided that you research your target market and satisfy their "true" needs, desires and benefits. Once you have established this system for marketing, you'll be able to use your domain name to construct specific ad campaigns targeted to specific markets even if your website offers multiple products and services.

To take it a step further, you could formulate a domain name that works like a headline for a classified ad. When you break a headline down it should have several different parts. It should fan the flames of desire with a hint of information about solving a specific problem, satisfying a need, providing a benefit, or invoking curiosity with a call to action. Your domain name should contain as many of these "headline characteristics" as possible. Try and phrase the keywords into something relatively short, catchy and easy to remember.

Keep in mind "what's-in-it-for-me?" as to "what your really selling". The job of your domain name is to act like a headline to drive targeted traffic to your website by "scratching the itch of your customers." If you've found the right words to scratch that itch, then ONLY YOU can put it to use in your domain name. You'll find that not only will you do better on your search engine rankings you'll also attract a lot more attention with your pay per click ads or any type of advertising you use.

Stop Paying For Website Traffic!

Stop paying for your web site visitors. Write an article, submit that article (for free) to the best article directory web sites and see your traffic explode!

Driving more visitors to your web site is just one of the benefits of submitting articles to article directory web sites.

There are other benefits too: Your Google page rank will increase! Your Yahoo and MSN rankings too! Alexa.com ranks web sites based upon web site traffic, so you benefit that way as well.

Distribute articles and establish yourself as an expert. Submit articles to make more sales, to get more web site traffic for free, to increase your website's Google Page Rank & boost your Alexa score.

In my opinion, article publishing is the greatest free traffic generating "secret".

But, I am sure you do not have the time available that it is going to take to submit your articles to twenty, fifty or a hundred article directory web sites.

So, what is the best way to submit your article to as many article directory web sites as possible?

Free article submission? No way. Just SPAM machines that can get you banned from article directories. Cheap article submission services? They lack the professional features that I am looking for. The top-notch ones have almost everything that I am looking for but they are too expensive.

Article submission software is the solution to this problem. Article submission software will store your information, your resource box and article body and visit each of the article directories to log you in and automatically fill in the fields (name, article body, resource box etc) for you. After that, you will need to select the appropriate category for your article and hit the submit article button.

Article writing is not a very easy work but it can become very rewarding. Keep it short, about 400 words. Check your grammar and spelling. Do not copy from other articles. Use a catchy title. Don

Are you having a hard time getting traffic to your new website?

The biggest question site owners are asking these days is "how do I get traffic?" It is definitely much harder with the growth spurt of the Internet, however it's not impossible!

There are TONS of ways to build up your traffic. Here are some of the most common methods.

1. Learn Search Engine Optimization - this is probably the most important way that you want to get traffic and probably the hardest too. Search engine traffic is highly targetted traffic of people who are searching the web for a specific item. If they get to your site after searching for it, you're almost guaranteed a sale or at least a "bookmark for later". lot of ebooks on the subject

2. Trade links with other sites - It's important to get your site name out there.
So trade links with several other sites, even your competitors! People really do look at those links pages and they will find their way to your site from another site.

3. Post on message boards - When you post on highly trafficked message boards, BE SURE to put your site link in your signature! This is a highly effective form of marketing, especially if the message board you are posting at is relative to your site content.

4. Use email signatures - Make it easy for your customers to contact you! When they write to you and ask for more information, be sure that you are using a signature with your site URL and name inside of it. That way if they want to retrieve it later, it's easier for them than having to memorize your URL and open a web browser.

5. Join Yahoo Groups - This is pretty much the same as message boards. Join groups that pertain to your site's content and advertise (but don't spam!!) your site there.

6. Post on free classifieds sites - Sites like Craig's List or other free advertising classifieds sites will accept your site for free! Just do a Google search for "free classifieds" and you'll see a ton of sites come up where you can promote your site!

7. Buy ad space - If your monthly budget allows, you can buy some ad space for your site. Find another site that pertains to your site's content and ask them what their advertising prices are.

8. Hold auctions - Ebay gets TONS of traffic a day, while you're not allowed to post your site URL within your auction listings, you are allowed to put it in your "about me" page. So think about listing some of your products as auctions and advertise your URL.

9. Offline advertising - Get custom t-shirts, bumper stickers, car decals, etc made for your site URL. Then whenever you are out in public, you are passively advertising yourself!

10. Submit your site to directories - If your site is a site about "fishing" for
instance, do a Google search for "fishing directories" and see how many directories are out there that pertain to your subject matter. Most of these directories will allow free submissions.

11. Write articles - Writing articles that pertain to your site is another excellent way to get your site out there. Just write a short, informative article of 5-6 paragraphs and submit it to any site that accepts article submissions and make sure that your article includes a link back to your site in your "author biography".

12. Submit press releases - Even if your site is a small work from home site
(i.e. "Susie's Candles") it IS newsworthy! Let's say your candle site released a new candle called "Vanilla Cream". Submit a press release about it, I'm serious!! A good place to start is called http://www.prweb.com Or you can do a Google search for "submit press release" and a zillion other sites will come up.

13. Have great interactive content - People will bookmark your site if you have interactive and dynamic content. Have polls, message boards, interactive games, news items, guest books, item of the day....whatever! Just make the site relevant and have good SUBSTANCE in your site content. Don't overload it with silly animated graphics, sounds, etc. That just makes it look like you had nothing else to fill your site up with but this annoying stuff. And Flash intros are only good if you are two
years old and need to see flashing lights and colors. Most of all they are slow loading, and people generally click away if they see Flash.

Buying Quality Traffic on the Internet for Your Website

Purchasing traffic from online businesses can be very difficult. There are many of these websites selling traffic, but it is not easy to decide who to buy from. Many of these websites can be found by doing a Google search for "buy website traffic", or something similar. Most of them are resellers who buy traffic from wholesalers and redistribute the traffic at a higher price to webmasters. Some sites offer general web traffic, and others may offer category or regional targeted traffic. Other traffic websites may even offer adult and casino specific packages, because general traffic does not allow these types of sites. Any type of traffic that is not general web traffic is sold at a much higher price, because it is harder to collect and sort.

There are some very odd things about most traffic purchasing websites. It seemed that even though each site design was different, the general idea was the exact same thing, and even most of the text is copied word for word. Many of the websites have both numerous spelling errors and severe grammatical mistakes indicative of bad translation from another language. The site designs were also flawed, such as a missing purchase confirmation page. Many sites do not even list an email address, but instead have a form to fill out and submit questions to them with. This is a bad means of communication and is used to hide the company's real email address.

Many of these sites are scams, based in China or other foreign countries. They will take the money, send fake "visitors", and become impossible to contact. This article lists the main details to watch out for, and to helps webmasters and site owners avoid trouble when marketing their site. Here are a few main points to take note of on a traffic website before making a purchase:

-Look for website design and content.
Is the website well made? Are there sections for support/contact, FAQ, about the site, terms/disclaimer, and a straightforward ordering form?

-Spelling and grammar.
Does the website read well? Does it look badly translated and poorly designed? Are there obvious mistakes on main pages?

-Contact and Support
Test the customer support, ask a few questions before making a purchase. Do they respond quickly and answer all your questions?

-Check their refund policy.
Will they give you a refund if you are not satisfied? What are their terms for refunds?

-Are they based in a reputable area?
Is the company based in the USA, Canada, Europe, or is it in China, Russia, or another country where scams a prevalent?

-Compare prices.
A very low price can be just as bad as a very high price. A low price suggests a possible scam, and a high price suggests a ripoff.

-Check traffic delivery timeframe.
Do they guarantee that the traffic you purchase will be delivered in 30 days?

All these points are things to take into consideration before buying traffic for a website. A legitimate web traffic providing website can be a great marketing partner, and generate a lot of money, but a illegitimate one is nothing but a scam.

One website thats sells real traffic is Quality Traffic Supply. They are very easy to contact, and provide legitimate traffic. They are also based in the United States and have a top-notch website for ease of use and ordering.

How to Boost Your Website Traffic and Profits with Content!

Are you aware of how vitally important and valuable CONTENT is to your online business? In fact, content can do more to build your business and profits than just about any other resource or service available.

Following is a list of 5 key ways that content can help build your website traffic, subscribers, and customers starting today!...

1. Boost your search engine ranking and daily visitor count by posting keyword rich articles and content on your website. For example, if your business involves offering products and services related to internet marketing, posting internet marketing related articles and content will attract unlimited prospective customers on a regular basis!

2. Generate double or even triple the number of newsletter subscribers you do currently, simply by offering content in the form of "special reports" or manuals as bonuses for subscribing to your publication. People love freebies, so give them what they want and watch as your results increase!

3. Create an automated cashflow by using content to formulate multi-part email training courses with related website or affiliate links "sprinkled" throughout each course. Use an autoresponder service to automate the delivery of your training course (such as a 5 part training course delivered over a 5 day period).

Training courses can also serve as excellent bonus offers for your prospective newsletter subscribers.

4. One of the most important keys to a successful online business is not JUST having a list of mailing list or newsletter subscribers... It's about building a trusting relationship with your subscribers (ie, "cultivating" your list)...

By sending informative articles (content) to your list on a regular basis you will establish yourself as an expert on your topic of business, as well as gain the trust of your subscribers over time. As a result, your subscribers will be EAGER to take advantage of your "paid" product and service offers. (Just make sure that you NEVER take advantage of the relationship you develop with your list by offering products or services of poor quality just to make a quick buck!)

If there is one "constant" in Internet marketing, it's this: A cultivated list of subscribers is as good as money in the bank. Write that down and never forget it!

5. Another excellent way to generate no cost website traffic is by submitting ready-made articles to "content hungry" website and newsletter publishers with your "resource box" attached. A resource box is nothing more than a little 3-6 line "bio" about you and/or your web-site - including a link to your site (or even instructions on how to subscribe to your newsletter)...

When submitting or offering your article(s) for reprint purposes, just make sure to specify that each article is to be reprinted "as is" with your resource box attached.

...Even one article can go a LONG way towards generating no cost website traffic and visitors for you. Just imagine your article being sent out to a newsletter subscriber base of 100,000 individuals - many of whom will be reading YOUR included resource box and clicking on your URL to learn more about what you have to offer!

Well there you have it, 5 sure ways to build your online business exponentially with the help of articles and content...

With the declining effectiveness of many of the online advertising methods that we've relied on in past years, content is only strengthening its position as the ultimate KEY to generating unlimited website traffic, subscribers, and customers!

Top 5 Ways To Generate Low Cost Website Traffic

There is one hard and fast rule in generating income for your website: A steady flow of website traffic. If no one goes to your site, it hardly bares a chance of generating an income. Many sites have tried and failed in doing so, and these results to the sites demise. It takes money to maintain an income generating site; it also takes money to make money.

BUT, it doesn't take a whole caboodle of cash to generate website traffic for your site.

Ever wonder how does big hit sites drive traffic top their site? Most of them are spending tons of money to drive the traffic to their sites, investing in many advertising campaigns and different forms of marketing schemes and gimmickries. This is all worthwhile because, well, they are what they are now, high earning, big hitting websites.

You don't have to do this if you don't really have their resources. There are many ways to generate low cost website traffic without having to spend what you don't have or can't afford. Many people have banked on high cost methods and have ended up losing their shirt over it.

Here I present to you the Top five ways to generate low cost website traffic that could help your site a whole lot. Even if you only get a small percentage of successful visitors in to client ratio it still works especially if you get a high number of website traffic.

Exchange Links

This is a sure and proven method. Rarely would you see a site where there is no link to another site. Many webmasters are willing to exchange links with one another so that they could produce more public awareness about their sites. You'll soon see and feel the sudden upsurge of the traffic coming in to your site from other sites.

A major prerequisite in exchanging links with other sites is having the same niche or content as the other site. They should share a common subject so that there is continuity in the providing of service and information to what interests your target traffic.

Exchanging links also boosts your chances of getting a high ranking in search engine results. It is common knowledge that search engines ranks high sites that have inbound and outbound theme-related links. With a good ranking position in the search engines, you will generate more traffic in your website without the high costs.

Traffic Exchange

This is like exchanging links but on a different higher level. This may cost a bit more than exchanging or trading links but could be made cheaper because you get to earn credits. You can use those credits when viewing others traffic, while you earn credits when someone views yours.

Traffic exchange services are the viewing of another's site or page. This is done vice versa where a site can use your sites contents and so can you to his or her site. You both benefit from each others efforts to generate traffic. The other sites visitors can go to your pages and know more about your site as well as theirs. Once again the public awareness of your sites existence is boosted.

Write and Submit Articles

There are many e-zines and online encyclopedias in the internet which provides free space for articles to be submitted. If you want to save costs, you can do the articles yourself. There are many freelance writers who are willing to write for you for a small fee, but to save money, it is wise to do those articles yourself.

Write articles that are themed along with the niche of your site. Write something that you have expertise on so that when they read it, they can feel your knowledge about the subject and will be eager to go to your site. Write articles that produce tips and guidelines to the subject or niche your site has.

Include a resource box at the end of your article that can link them to your site. Write a little about yourself and your site. If you provide a light, information-laden and interesting article, they will go to your site for more.

Make a Newsletter.

This may sound like hard work because of all the articles you may need to use to build a newsletter but on the contrary, this is not so. There are many writers and sites that are willing to provide free articles as long as they can get their name in on your newsletter. This will also provide free advertising for them as well.

As your newsletter gets pass around, you can widen your public awareness and build an opt-in list that can regularly visit your site.

Join Online Communities and Forums

This only requires your time and nothing else. You can share your knowledge and expertise with many online communities as well as your website. You can get free advertising when you go to forums that have the same subject or niche with your site.

Share your two cents and let them see how knowledgeable you are with the subject. As you build your reputation, you also build the reputation of your site, making it a reputable and honest business that could be frequented and trusted by many people.

How to drive traffic to your website using funny videos

After a website is optimized for the search engines, some creative marketing can easily be done to help drive new traffic to your site. Many high traffic entertainment/humor websites use funny videos that are viewed for free by site visitors. In fact, many of these viral video clips that are sent around the world via e-mail originated from these websites.

The only down side to starting a funny videos site is the initial cost to build it, and ongoing update costs, coupled with the bandwidth these websites consume, which can cost between $100-$1000/month just for hosting on a dedicated server. This is because these funny videos websites have hundreds or even thousands of downloadable videos available, and every time one is viewed there is a sizable amount of bandwidth consumed.

So how do you take the idea from the funny videos platform and apply it to your own website? Webmasters can easily incorporate this creative marketing technique into their own eCommerce websites.

Think about it this way. Most eCommerce websites have one primary function: To sell a product. The key to success with an eCommerce website is to rank high in the search engines and be found by someone looking for a product. Often times when a customer visits an eCommerce site, he or she sees the same basic format. There is a nice looking home page with an overview of the company and product line, and some pictures of featured products. Then the customer can find links to other product pages as well, or do a search for a product by keyword.

But to get the customer to come back to your website and buy more products, there must be something that sets you apart from your competition. How can this be done? There are two effective methods to achieve this. In a nutshell, adding video media will bring a whole new dimension to your website to help drive new traffic and gain repeat visitors.

In the case of an entertainment website, the funny videos are the catalyst that drives the repeat traffic to the website. In the case of an eCommerce website, you can add videos to your pages that blend with the theme of a particular product.

For example, if you sell fishing gear, then you can add the funny video of the reporter in Mexico who was floating down the river, only to be repeatedly pummeled by hundreds of fish that were jumping at his spotlight into the boat. That should get a laugh from your customer, and give them something to feel good about while they are looking at your product inventory. It's kind of like a bakery. When you walk into a bakery, you are almost always enticed to buy something. It makes you feel good. Well on the internet, you unfortunately don't have the option of smelling what you see. But adding funny media can arouse other senses in a customer and make their shopping experience more enjoyable.

Another great way to help market your product is by creating 'how to' videos for your products. For example, if you sell products for sailboats, you can make a series of short 'knot-tying' videos, and feature a different type of video on each product page. This can be done easily with a digital camera that records video clips.

Here is how you can accomplish this:
1.First, set up an area where you camera is on a tripod or table.
2.Next, make sure you have a good backdrop for the video clips. You want to use an area that makes the action in the video stand out.
3.Then record the video. In the case of knot-tying, you can write a script before hand and narrate the video as you are tying each knot for the camera.
4.Then download your video clip to your computer. You can also modify the size of your video with any video editing shareware tool.
5.Simply upload the video clip to your website and link to it with a descriptive title. That is it.

One idea to make this effective is add one knot-tying clip to each product page. This will not only make the customer want to visit each page, but it keeps them interested in your website.

There is one more important point to consider. You must present the training clips so they are most effective. To do this, be sure and place them in a prominent area on each page so they can be seen. And add several lines of text under the video link with a description of the video and keywords that someone might find while searching. For example you can tag the video link with 'Instructional Video On How To Tie An Angler's Knot'.

Then lastly, you can create a separate webpage with a 'video directory' of all your videos. You want to also have search engine friendly keywords on this page as well. Then add a link to your directory page from your other pages, especially your index page.

These tips will help your website stand out from the competition. Simply by adding a few funny videos to your site, or some informative training videos that you can easily create from your home or office, you have added a creative marketing edge that goes beyond optimization.

Get Targeted hits to your website using traffic exchange and banner exchange program.

People who make the most website income are the people who get high traffic to their website. You drive more traffic to your site increase your website income.

6.Redeem credits earned by banner exchange program to your website. Your banner displays 300 times on other website. If your banner very attractive your website get high targeted hits. For Example: Your banner receive 20% click, your website get 60 targeted visitor using 100 credits of traffic exchange.

If you earn more credits your website get more traffic.

Increase Website Traffic With Links To Your Website

The sole purpose for having your own website is for having people visit it. In order for people to know that your website exists, you must advertise to show the online community who you are, what you do and what you can do for them. Advertising your website to create more website traffic is possible by having a number of links to your website posted through other sites of similar interests. Nowadays having a top quality website is necessary for small businesses and promoting your website to increase the traffic can make or break you. After all, you do not create a website for it to just to sit there and have no one look at it. The purpose of having a website is for optimal viewing.

If you want to increase website traffic with links to your website, there are a few things you can do. Since most of the web traffic generally comes from directories and search engines such as Yahoo!, Google, Dog Pile, and Ask Jeeves, you can register your website with many of the most popular search engines to ensure you are web site is found in searches. Although some search engines can find your web site on their own, it is best to submit an eye catching, detailed listing yourself to increase your chances. The more directories and search engines you register your website to, the more your chances increase of traffic from the online community.

You can create a sign up list for those visitors who visit your web site and want to receive email newsletters about your site. Creating a mailing list for Internet newsletters is a great way to keep in touch with your web site visitors and to offer special promotions or send weekly or monthly news and updates. People like to be abreast of what is going on with your website and they like to receive special promotions that can drive them back to your website to make a purchase of products or services. When creating a sign up list, a visitor must request information sent to their email address, therefore avoiding the pitfalls of spam. No one likes spam emails; regardless of whether it is, a product that you think might interest them or not.

Message boards, chat rooms and other forums with subjects relating to your web site work as great ways to promote your site. Although you should never directly advertise on any of these forums, you can make your presence known and make yourself available to answer questions and build up your credibility. You can also include your signature file at the end of your posts. Using a signature file with all your contact information and a link to your website in every email and forum post is a great way to increase traffic to your website as well.

Everyone loves freebies. Promotional freebies can encourage traffic to your website that can be of considerable value. By offering freebies related to your target audience such as software, downloadable forms, consultation, newsletters, articles and other resources full of valuable information, you can draw people in. You may also consider a sweepstakes, where an entrant must sign up for the newsletter in order to enter into the sweepstakes.

Buying ad space on more successful websites in the same field as yours can also increase website traffic with links to your website. There are many websites with ad space available at affordable rates. You can also choose to place your ad within a search engine or directory, or even in a local newspaper or magazine for a slightly higher advertising price. You can have your website and contact information on personalized stationary to use with all your transactions made while you are not on the Internet as well. By using business cards, letterheads and envelopes, you can advertise your website while paying a bill.

There is a huge variety of ways to advertise and to increase the traffic to your website. Regardless of the field of interest, there are people out there surfing the Internet that will be interested in what you have to offer them. Creating the website was only the first step, now you must find your audience; do not expect them to find you. You must help guide them to you through advertisements and relentless promotion.

Analyzing Website Traffic Part 1

Most web hosting companies will provide you with basic web traffic information that you then have to interpret and make pertinent use of. However, the data you receive from your host company can be overwhelming if you don't understand how to apply it to your particular business and website. Let's start by examining the most basic data - the average visitors to your site on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.

These figures are the most accurate measure of your website's activity. It would appear on the surface that the more traffic you see recorded, the better you can assume
your website is doing, but this is an inaccurate perception. You must also look at the behavior of your visitors once they come to your website to accurately gauge the effectiveness of your site.

There is often a great misconception about what is commonly known as "hits" and what is really effective, quality traffic to your site. Hits simply means the number of
information requests received by the server.

The greater the traffic is to your website, the more precise your analysis
will be of overall trends in visitor behaviour. The smaller the number of visitors, the more a few anomalous visitors can distort the analysis.

The aim is to use the web traffic statistics to figure out how well or how poorly your site is working for your visitors. One way to determine this is to find out how long
on average your visitors spend on your site. If the time spent is relatively brief, it usually indicates an underlying problem. Then the challenge is to figure out
what that problem is.

It could be that your keywords are directing the wrong type of visitors to your website, or that your graphics are confusing or intimidating, causing the visitor to exit
rapidly. Use the knowledge of how much time visitors are spending on your site to pinpoint specific problems, and after you fix those problems, continue to use time spent as a gauge of how effective your fix has been.

Internet Based Home Business. Using Search Engines To Drive Traffic To Your Website

Traffic Is The Heart Behind The Success Of An Internet Based Home Business.

If you can get enough targeted people to visit your website, you will have a good chance of making your home business a profitable enterprise.

In this article, I will explain why your Internet based home business needs a website and why quality content will help you get traffic from the major search engines.

"Having A Website Is A Necessity For Home Business success. Absolute fact"!

Every business needs a storefront. In the offline world, that means having a place to conduct business. Online, it means having a website.

You need to have a place where people can visit to do business with you.

Whether you sell your own product, provide an online service or promote affiliate products, your internet based home business needs to have a website.

Getting Traffic From The Search Engines.

Most people use search engines to find what they are looking for. It is likely that they are using search engines to find information about whatever you are selling. That means you need to have a presence on Google, Yahoo!, MSN and Ask.

If you can rank well in those four search engines for keywords that your prospective customers are using, you will be able to drive those people to your website.

Each search engine delivers a different audience. Google has its audience while Yahoo! and MSN have their respective audiences. Because each search engine's audience is loyal to that search engine, you will need to have a presence on each engine.

A strong long-term presence on the major search engines is achieved by delivering quality content to your visitors.

Why Quality Content Is So Important To Search Engine Rankings.

Years ago, having content on your website was unnecessary to achieve top rankings in the search engines. But, those times were short-lived.

Today, your website needs content to keep the search engines happy. When you have a lot of high-quality content on your site, it is easier to gain links from other websites whose owners like your content.

These links help the search engines to determine how authoritative your website is and how high they should rank your website in their database.

Whatever your Internet home based business is selling or promoting, there is a way to create high-quality content that the search engines will love.

Find a small element of your business or the product you are promoting that you can explain in greater detail. Write product tutorials. Write reviews. Good content results in good search engine rankings.

How Research Can Help Your Home Business Gain Top Listings.

You need to know what keywords your prospective customers are typing into the search engines to find what you are promoting.

There are many services online that will help you research these keywords. Among the most popular are Wordtracker.com and Google's own keyword tool.

Once you know the keywords that your targeted prospects are using, you can focus on ranking well in Google, Yahoo!, MSN and Ask.com for those phrases.

Getting traffic from the search engines to your website is good. But, getting targeted traffic - people that are looking for exactly what you are selling - is critical.

Using Other Online Properties To Get Links To Your Website.

Links from other websites tell the search engines how good your site is perceived by your market. Getting links to your website is important.

Use article directories to get those links. Simply write articles and submit them to these directories.

When the article directory publishes your article, they will include a link back to your home business website. You can also create short videos to submit to video sites for fast indexing links.

In order to have an Internet based home business that is profitable, you need to get targeted traffic from the top search engines.

High-quality content allows your site to gain high rankings in the search engines. High rankings give you exposure to the people you need to make your home business a success.

Increasing Website Traffic With Pop Unders

Increasing traffic with pop unders can happen in as little as 24 hours, and you can see a definite difference within the first week. Within the first month of using pop unders you will hardly remember what it was like to try to market with outdated instruments such as banners and link exchange.

Pop unders are proven to be one of the most effective ways to market on the Internet because they give you direct access to your audience. Exchanges are much more ideal with pop unders that they are with banners or any other means of driving your traffic.

Better than Banners
Pop unders are simply more visible than banners are. Think about it, banners are something that most people scroll past every day on every Internet site that they visit. If you think about your favorite website, do you even know if they have banners?

Choosing The Best Keywords To Drive Traffic To Your Website

Getting a website to appear in the first page of search engine results is a common goal for most webmasters, yet few possess the skills to actually achieve it. There are many steps to take in order to be found for terms related to your site, and taking your time to research the best possible phrases for your site is an important step on the ladder.

Many webmasters make the mistake of assuming that a ranking for one generic term related to their site will turn their website into a profitable success. Although that one generic term may provide a good stream of traffic and brand awareness, this doesn

Creating Traffic for your Website

Generate Traffic and Create Hits

This article is a quick overview of some methods of traffic generation and their advantages and disadvantages. It is the goal of any website of the internet to get traffic to the site, to be seen. One of the problems is the internet is now so huge that there are more pages on the internet than people on the planet. How can you get hits and a flow of traffic to your solitary page. If your generating a page for general interest or fun without traffic your goals are not met. In the case of creating traffic for a business website it is literally a case of have traffic or have your business die. It doesn't mattter if you have the best website site, with great content, fantastic pictures, audio, video and a multimedia experience better than disneyland, if no one comes it is for naught. The internet is not like field of dreams "if you build it they will come", no they won't. Google has about 8 billion pages indexed on the net and its growing everyday. If you create a new site your chance of having a visitor just stumble on your site is about the same as winning the lottery. How then do we change the game so people can at least appreciate the work put into a website, or in the case of a business or affliliate website visit to make a decision to buy? The following are some of the most common methods.

Search Engine Optimisation.

Basically this means you optimise your pages with the right keywords in the right places so that the search engines index your page as having great CONTENT in relation to key search words. The simple fact of the matter is that your chance of being on page one of the most popular search terms is next to nil. You will find thanks to the American domination of the internet that the most popular searched keywords tend to be American personalities, like Oprah Winfrey, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, etc. (Wonder why there are so many gossip magazines? The internet is no different, gossip is one of the most popular topics) If you were to create a new website about one of these people thinking hey I will get some of that traffic for myself, I'll do an Oprah Winfrey site, content rich, etc your chance of getting to the top is practically nil, why, firstly because you have 1000's to millions of competitors and your chance of being optimised not only with great content but with relevant links and relevant links with the important keywords will be nil as well. All is not lost, it is possible still to create a niche website and get rated in the first page e.g. type "vegetable gardening on hard clay" into the google search engine and you will see I am rated number two and three. One a blog and the other an article, probably a boring topic for most people but for gardeners a nice niche topic. Its not a university degree on the subject but the basics on the subject and it rates high because the site's content strongly matches the search phase vegetable gardening on hard clay, type in gardening or vegetables though and the site is lost from the radar. In summary one of the first methods of traffic generation is to have a site geared to keywords and content that will draw in search engine traffic. Remember though the more competative the keywords the harder this will be. Some companies specialise in generating rich content and links from other like rich content site targetted to high rating keywords and charge big money for the privelage $50,000, etc, why because free traffic to websites from search engines means big chance for profits.

Adwords and the like.

Another method of traffic generation is to buy it. Yahoo, Google, etc sell advertising space. In the case of Google adwords you can pay to have you site on the first page but this can be an expensive proposition, $1 or more a click, to mere pennies. Why do people choose this method. Firstly it brings targetted traffic to your site. The advantage of targetted traffic is these people are looking for your exact topic and thus more likely to stay on your site and it results in higher conversion rates. The problem is although Google says its rewards content rich sites with lower click costs the truth is the better ad wins, not necessarily the better or most relevant site. To explain this further, google will lower your cost of your clicks and even raise you in the list if more people are clicking through - its says its rewarding you for having a relevant site - the truth though is its rewarding you for having a great ad that people want to click on. Advantage of this method is you are guaranteed traffic - disadvantage - its costs and takes time to tweek your ads so they work at maximum efficiency. However I know of businesses that survive on google adwords alone for advertising and make a very good turnover on their business products so it works well for them. But one again the greater demand for the keyword, the greater the number of competitors there are. There is one way to can cut this disadvantage down though, choose to limit your target audience to a particular country, region or even city. Obviously the target audience is further limited by language. Not much point in advertising your english content site in Mongolia, firstly because not many mongols speak english, but secondly because not many have internet access either. If your paying money for advertising on the internet make sure you are reaching the right audience for your ad.

Surfing Programs.

Another way to generate hits to your site is to join numerous surfing programs, like traffic swarm, instantbuzz, fast freeway, traffic pods and many more. These will generate HITS to your site. In fact you can buy thousands of hits and get them in a very short space of time but although normally cheap e.g. $9 for 1000 hits, it has a myriad of disadvantages. Firstly you are only advertising to other surf members, many of them are competitors, already in the same programs as you, not really interest in your ad. I've found that you can build a downline and contact list from surfing programs, however keep the ad or website display very basic. With a 15-30 second counter on most programs people just aren't going to read a saga even if its mindly blowingly good, they are going to scan and then click the letter or number required. It that 15 seconds you've got to grab there interest. You can do this by free offers, appealing to their needs or wants, often in this case a single page with an e-mail enrollment form it the best bet for getting results. One distinct advantage of most of these programs though is if you build a downline with them the amount of free traffic you get increases. You can surf for traffic at your leisure if you can't afford to pay for it, you might even find a program that perks your interest. Also in this category can be including banners, banners exchanges, etc which work on the same principle of you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours. If you are interested in surfing programs the link below to free traffic hits has many of the most popular.

Longer term methods.

I call these longer term methods because they require a greater work on your part, however they can result in great traffic results. One of these is article writing. Articles submitted to articles sites like goarticles, article fever, etc act as a magnet for search engines. Content rich and quality controlled if you get an article listed in one of these forums/ libraries you have the ability to have a constant stream of traffic through attached links. Why do you think I've written this article. To generate traffic. Yes I like helping and educating others and I do create not for profit websites and articles but most are to generate traffic. Another long term method is to contact and link to other similar sites. You can do this by requesting other webmasters to do this or create you own sites and link them to one another. Another long term method is to create an op-in e-mail list and encourage people from you list to visit your 'great' site with your 'unbelievable' offer. Creating a blog like this doesn't hurt either. In summary I don't reccommend any method over any other. Each has advantages and disadvantages. It can depend on what you are advertising. On the whole though I don't think you can go wrong if you do all the above methods as a wholistic internet campaign. If you do over time your internet presence will increase as will your total traffic.

Free Article Writing Tips to Increase Website Traffic

If you're not doing so already, you may want to consider writing articles about your website's topic. Writing copyright free articles is a great way to:

Establish your credibility and build your reputation and brand
Establish yourself as an expert in your field
Increase your exposure on the internet
Gain laser targeted traffic to your website
Increase the number of one way links to your website, which should help your website in the search results.

Writing articles about the topic of your website is a fantastic way to demonstrate your expertise and credibility and at the same time allows you to build your reputation and your brand. Submitting your articles to the various free article sites gives your articles the opportunity to be picked up by other webmasters for their websites and newsletters. When your articles get used on these other websites they must be used with the author bio section un-edited. This means that you can generate one way links to your website, which in turn leads to greater exposure and better rankings in the search engines. If the readers of your articles on other sites click through to your site, you gain targeted traffic.

Some Article Writing Tips
To get the greatest benefit from your article writing endeavors, try to keep the following article writing tips in mind:

Try to stay away from turning your article into a sales pitch. Give your readers credit - they will be able to distinguish a sales pitch right away. Once they think they're just reading another sales pitch they will quickly click away from your article. I can just about guarantee that no one will pick up your sales pitch and use it on their website, unless it's one of your affiliates.

Don't include too many hyperlinks within the article body and stick to only one in the author bio section. Most webmasters will not pick up an article, no matter how good it is, if there are too many outgoing links. I would recommend not having any links within the article body but sometimes this is unavoidable.

Which situation would you rather have: 1 article with 1 outgoing link to your website that gets picked up by 1,000 webmasters or 1 article with 10 outgoing links that gets picked up by 10 webmasters?

Check, re-check and then check your article again for typos and grammatical errors. Have someone else proofread it for you before submitting it. Nothing says amateur more than typos and grammatical errors.

Write articles that complement the topic of your website. Don't write about something totally unrelated to your website. Remember, you want to establish your credibility and expertise. Write about what you know.

When adding that one link back to your site, make sure to include a keyword targeted link back to your site. I'm talking specifically about the words between the anchor tags.

When the search engine robots come across this link they will index the anchor text and it will help you with those keywords in the search engines. Do not waste this valuable link by just having your website address (www.website.com) as the anchor text unless you have your main keywords in the website address. Try to vary the keywords a little as well when creating this link. There is speculation that having too many "uniform" links to a site may hurt you - just something to keep in mind.

Do not place a copyright notice at the top of your article. This leads to confusion and may cause webmasters to stay away from posting your articles on their website and in their newsletters.

It may be a good idea to write completely new content for your articles. Some writers just copy and paste parts of their websites and put them into articles. This may lead to a "duplicate content" penalty and may end up hurting your search engine results. I would recommend that you should play it safe and come up with totally new content for your articles.

How To Get Targeted Traffic To Your Website!

Everyone who has a website knows that to have sales you must have traffic, but not just any traffic it has to be targeted traffic.

What is Targeted traffic? It is simply visitors to your website that are interested in what your website is about. For example, people interested in buying jewellery will find jewellery websites interesting.

How do I get targeted traffic I hear you ask? The following are tried and tested methods:

Forums: Subscribe to forums that discuss your topic. Answer questions and join in the debates there. Become an expert in the field. Then with each article reply you write have a discreet link to your website in the signature file. What can be placed in your signature is often determined by the forum moderators. Do not spam the forum or you will be stopped from posting. This is one of the most productive ways of getting free traffic as those who click your link have already read and liked your style.

Linking from/to other websites: Contact website owners that have similar but not competitive websites to yours, ask them for a reciprocal link from their website to yours. Be sure to select your link partner to match closely your customer profile. Software programs such as Arelis are very helpful in this process.

E-Zines: Contact e-zine owners that have your target readership and buy advertisements from them. Be sure to have a test run to see that the return on investment is sufficient to cover the costs involved. If you are buying an extended run of advertisements haggle with the e-zine owner over price. You may save a considerable amount.

Newsletters: When people visit your website offer them something of value for free if they sign up to your newsletter (like an e-Book). Your newsletter should be written tightly geared towards your topic. It should be published regularly at weekly intervals.

E-Books: Often used, these are usually free informational books for your clients and for others to give away free if they leave your links in the book itself. You can place links back to your website in the books you sell or give to your clients.

Joint Ventures: Contact online marketers looking for new products to sell. They often have large mailing lists with eager to buy customers. Normally they are willing to email their list for a cut of the sale price. This works particularly well with informational products. It has several advantages. It can give a very sizeable boost to both your sales and mailing list within a very short period.

Buy Traffic: This is probably the cheapest in terms of time and most expensive money wise. It gives a traffic boost normally within 30 days. What are you buying? You are buying traffic from expired domain names which the company selling the traffic has bought. They are domain names still registered on the search engines which get a considerable amount of traffic. The previous domain name owners have either lost interest in the name or simply forgot to renew the registration. This means that the traffic from the expired domain name is simply redirected to your website. This is usually high quality traffic as only websites with traffic such as you want is redirected to you. As always, a test run to see if this traffic is suitable should be undertaken.

When you combine these techniques and apply them consistently over time you will find a rich source of targeted traffic coming to your website. This, combined with quality products will ensure the success of your online business.
